For this kind of photography it is important that the future mother feels as comfortable as possible. That´s why is a very nice idea and good decision to do the pictures at her own house. Also it’s wonderful for a couple to have a capture that truly shows what their life was like at the time their baby came to be a part of their family.
But making pictures at home is not always that easy. The most important thing in photography is the light, and when you do pictures inside you will not always find the best lighting conditions.
Natural light is probably my favourite type of light for maternity photography. It is soft, flattering and very effective for capturing even skin tones and conveying a tranquil mood.
Some people may think doing this kind of photography is boring, or commercial. I think you can always experiment and do some interesting art shoots as with any other king of portraying discipline.
